My top tomatoes. One of my number one rules with tomatoes is nothing touches the ground. This means that no fruit, no branches are going in contact with the soil. I honestly have this rule with most of my plants. To me, soil equals a place to hide and pests to hide. So if you can provide good air flow and no contact with the soil, you're going to have a lot healthier plant for a lot longer in the season. I will trim out a lot of my sun leaves and my unnecessary branches on my indeterminate tomatoes, making sure that there is lots of air flow between my tomatoes. Tomatoes are also prone to blight being the number one fallen in my yard because I live in a very humid, warm zone that we get a lot of rain. So I will alternate copper fungicide and hydrogen peroxide mix with water. Make sure you're spraying this on at night. Do not ever spray anything on your plants during the day unless you want your plants to burn up. Your tomatoes. Make sure you're giving your tomatoes support. Vines grow indeterminate amounts. So you want to make sure that you are supporting them. Can these that is support mine in my garden. Cages, whatever you have. If you're not supporting them well, if you get a big storm or some wind, you can actually have your branches fall off and break and it will affect your harvest. And sure you're fertilizing your tomatoes. Happy feeders. I use a spoma tomato tone that I personally use. You can use whatever it is that you like. When they are at their flowering state, if you're using a high nitrogen mix, I would back off of that. High nitrogen produces greens. If you want something that's going to produce more flowers, more fruit, you're looking for something with higher phosphorus and potassium and a little bit lower nitrogen. You still want nitrogen, but you don't want that to be the predominant factor. Like an Alaskan fish fertilizer. Are struggling? Please leave your comments below.
