I just finished painting, so I'm gonna share it. This is I think my first more explicit self-portrait where I know that I'm intentionally painting myself. And I just essentially wanted to capture the material reality in this specific moment of time. And something that happened during the process of painting is that I broke my old glasses in half while traveling, then I had to repaint my glasses with the new frames. It was just a good reminder that no matter how permanent and important these material things feel and actually are for you, you could lose it, break it, damage it, whatever. But ultimately, their permanence is quite limited to you. So I guess this painting was just me exploring my relationship with my materiality.
