i'm 18 with over 100 k invested and i run a successful company teaching people financial literacy so you're gonna wanna listen up i'm gonna teach you more about finance in one minute than school will teach you in 2 years time is your biggest ally you wanna start investing as early as possible the reason that warren buffett has so much money and he's such a successful investor is because he started investing when he was a child (one reason but a big one) read the psychology of money it's a fire book but what do i buy for my first investment just go with an index fund go with a broad market index fund like voo vxus or vt get something global please don't put all your money into the us be consistent ride out market volatility and keep buying even when things are low actually i get excited about market crashes because i'm literally buying everything at a discount your portfolio should have more than just singular stocks you wanna hold at least some index funds slash etf's in there especially if you're a beginner and you don't know how to pick stocks or research stocks an etf is just a way for you to buy a bunch of stocks in one investment you can buy literally every single stock that's publicly traded on all markets ever you can buy a global market index fund keep your expenses low for as long as possible especially when you're young because when you have a larger portfolio at a younger age that's gonna compound into way way way way way way way way more money compared to if you were to start later in life with even more money because time is gonna be the biggest most important best asset that you have especially at a younger age my portfolio right now will still compound into $1 million if i don't add any more money into it in 17 years i will be a millionaire if i keep investing way quicker if you wanna see what i invest in for international diversification good returns stable good index funds look at my portfolio in my bio it's completely free to see let me know what you think about my investments if you are an investor i'm actually very curious to see what people think about my portfolio i think it's pretty freaking goated and i made a lot of money last year
