Trafficking doesn’t always look like what you see in movies or viral posts. More often it looks like a disaster zone with overwhelmed shelters, children with no paperwork and no one looking for them. Right now thousands of children in Venezuela are displaced, separated from their families, and without documentation. Traffickers were reported showing up within hours of the earthquake so let’s turn up the heat- make it hard for them to take kids! Here’s what you can do: ➡️ If you’re traveling, you’re an extra set of eyes.
Watch for children who don’t know where they’re going, look scared, or have an adult answering for them when they’re asked a direct question. ➡️ If you see posts online asking where the children are or offering to take in kids from disaster zones, screenshot it, report it to the platform, and report it to cybertipline.org @ncmec ➡️ Never share unverified posts about missing children. ➡️ If you’re working on the ground, documentation is how you protect them. And share this! Venezuelans have been sounding the alarm but it’s not mainstream.
Traffickers need to know, hands off!
Venezuelan kids went missing in 1999 after the Vargas disaster but we won’t let that happen again.
