Wealth vs Fake Rich. Nasty truth About rich And poor. The brutal truth about wealth and nobody really talks about it. But here's what it is. Truly wealthy people do not look at a poor person carrying a Louis Vuitton purse and think they're rich. Truly wealthy well off people do not look at somebody who is carrying a name brand purse or driving a name brand car and go oh wow, they must be rich. Who you end up impressing are only other poor people. Let me say this again when you are not well off, but you are trying to act like you are well off. You are not fooling rich people. Rich people measure you by what's your net worth. If all you have is what's on your body as in a car, as in the pants, as in the clothes, as in the purse, as in the phone, then you're not rich. Like you're not rich. And the thing that breaks my heart is seeing this happen to someone in their early twenties. As a 39 year old in finance, I meet a lot of 20 year olds who drive these BMWs, Mercedes Benz who have a car payment of $1000, $1300 a month and yet they have absolutely nothing in retirement. Many of them work an average W2 job, absolutely have no savings and continue to go into credit card debt month after month and they think this is normal because everyone around them also thinks this is normal. And this is an unpopular opinion, but I believe that the biggest lesson that everyone should learn is to be okay looking stupid for a couple of years. It's okay driving a used car. It's okay to shop for your clothes at a discounted store. Because if you go down that road of trying to look fake rich now, I promise you you're going to look real poor later. Live humbly, save and invest your money and I guarantee you you're going to live a much happier life :)
