I quit my job story time after only a week of being off of orientation on night shift and let's talk about why. I've been a nurse for five years, one year of that was travel, but it's all all been on med surg telli floors and when I took a staff job after my travel nursing gig here I knew that I wanted to make the transition from med surge to ICU because I have stamped my time in med surge. I'm proud of what I've done there in the trenches, but I knew it was time to move to something else. I went through the entire orientation in the ICU. I love the ICU. The reason why I quit is not because I don't love. I love it and would love to however, however, I can't do night shift. And I never wanted to admit because it feels like a weakness, but even after just a week I knew this is something that wasn't going to be sustainable for me. As I said, I've been a nurse for five years. I have never worked. I worked on a very, very baby new grad floor when I first started. It's the only reason I got to escape. But I love day shift. I but I love day shift. I love being able to have my days. I'm a morning person. I'm a morning person through and through. So I knew that even though it's a right of passage to do night shift and then work your way up to days when you're changing specialties, even after just a week, which there are gonna be so many people on here telling me that I needed to give it more time. However, I know that my quality and all other aspects of my life would suffer. I have a different job where I work online and marketing where I need to be awake during the daytime. And I have a new job coming down the line that allowed me to be able to quit this job now and just have a little bit of a nursing hiatus. And hopefully be able to go back to a part time or per diem gig. Hopefully in the ICU, but if they make me do night shift, then I don't really know my plan. We'll worry about that when we get. But ultimately, I saw this quote where it's your life, you get to choose your hard. And night shift was something that I didn't want to choose anymore. Anymore, I challenge myself in many other aspects. There, there are things that I'm doing for growth. And while I loved the ICU and I would love to get back, working nights just was not it for me and I knew that right away. And so I'm like, why I put myself through that if I don't have to? And I know that I am the luckiest girl in the world to be able to make this decision and to be able to because I know that there are people who are forced to do night shift because of their family or other obligations. You all are superheroes. I have so much respect for you. I'm glad that I even for a short amount of time to understand what you do. I'm so impressed. I'm so impressed if you're seeing this and you're suffering on nights, trust me, there are other avenues. And if you're working night shift, thank you. Thank you for what you truly because I can. That's the update. Just choose your hard. Life's too short. There's many different avenues, especially in nursing. And find the one that works best for you and what you wanna do. It's a hard. And that's truly one of the greatest. And that's truly one of the greatest things about this profession. Okay, love you. Bye.
