After carving, the raw piece is finished and the engraving is complete. Next, I apply the colors. After coloring, I wait for the paint to dry. Then I take a paint scraper and remove excess paint on the surface. Karen Aruba Artisan I think it's very important to teach people for such kind of technique of how to do handcrafting work in mahjong tiles. So if we do not have enough mahjong tools, it's very difficult to pass such kind of skills. Luckily, my husband's brother, he's also one of the wood craftsmen. He helped me to recreate a few sets. And then we found a factory in Malaysia that can recreate the scissors for us. So right now we have around 8 to 5 full set of mahjong making tools, which is very good for the students to practice.
