Hook
Well folks, we've woken up in bizarro-world: a beloved multiplayer shooter is coming back from the dead, free of its live service trappings. The game is Deceive Inc, a PvP, Hitman-like shooter that got good reviews, had a loyal fanbase, but didn't generate eleventy trillion dollars. So it died with its studio in 2024. Fast forward to today, and the fans turned on their PCs to find an update waiting for the game. We don't believe Deceive Inc should quietly disappear, said the accompanying news post. We're actively rebuilding Deceive Inc's backend to be sustainable indefinitely and support community-hosted dedicated servers. So, coming soon, players will be able to spin up their own servers for the game, keeping it alive indefinitely. It's like the '90s never ended. This work is ultimately about one thing: making sure the future of Deceive Inc. is in the hands of the community that continues to play it. If only everything worked out that way.
