Study done in Sweden, a bunch of cat owners, are they knowledgeable about dental health? And B, are you doing any preventative measures? The results showed that less than half of the owners were doing any preventative measures. Good dental health prevents getting teeth removed, pain, discomfort, etcetera. Poor dental health has been linked to issues in other systems of the body. If you can brush your cat's teeth, that's the gold standard according to the study, just because of the abrasiveness and getting the plaque off, but that's not realistic for everyone.
