How long can a PC survive with dry ice sitting right on top of it? Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide. It doesn't conduct electricity. So shorts aren't the first worry. The real problem is how cold it gets. Even with the CPU pinned at 100% load, temp's are sitting in single digits. But here's the catch. Dry ice can hit negative 78° Celsius. If the air around the CPU drops to its due point, moisture condenses out of the air into liquid water and water absolutely can short a computer. We just hit zero degree Celsius. And The chart doesn't even measure lower than that. So, the plan is simple. Let the dry eye sit until it either kills the PC or sublimate away. 10 minutes later. This is actually surprising. The PC never shut off from condensation. Instead, the CPU temperature climbed all the way to its upper max. When went from the lower limit, straight to overheat. The dry eye has almost fully sublimate and you can see condensation finally starting to form, which really could have shortened it. We got lucky at overheated before it got shortened out. Pretty cool, if you ask me.
