Fable 5 Anthropics is shifting Fable 5 to paper use starting July 19th Anthropics extends the deadline for Claude Fable 5 (Photo illustration by Matteo Della Torre/NurPhoto via Getty Images) Anthropics just handed every Claude subscriber five bonus days with its most powerful model Fable. Per Anthropic, Claude Fable 5's included access on paid plans has been extended through July 12, 2026, up from the original July 7 cutoff, announced on Anthropic's official channels. Pro, Max, Team, and select Enterprise subscribers can use Fable 5 for up to 50 percent of their weekly usage limits until then. After the window closes, access shifts to prepaid usage credits at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, the highest pricing available. Why The Claude Fable 5 Window Matters Fable 5 sits in Anthropic's new Mythos class, a tier above Opus. It leads knowledge work benchmarks and handles long, complex reasoning that used to require a team of analysts. The countdown creates a rare situation: frontier capability, zero marginal cost, and a hard deadline. Deadlines focus effort. We're extending access to Claude Fable 5 on all paid plans through July 12. meaning even on max subscription you'll pay $50 for every million tokens but there's a workaround that keeps Fable Five's thinking without paying for it it open a fresh chat switch to fable 5 and with one prompt ask it to write a complete instruction guide for itself fable writes down its entire thinking process as a step by step markdown file you can plug that thinking structure into Opus Sonnet Haiku any low cost model for way better outputs create a new Claude project paste the document into the project instructions and set the model to Opus 4.8 or whatever fits your task now every chat in that project runs on fable standards on a model you're not paying extra for to do this yourself just comment drain and I'll send you the exact prompt and the project setup guide
