Did Garmin just kill Whoop? Garmin just release the official band, Circa, and honestly, it's pretty close. Let me explain what the differences are and which one you should choose. First, let's look at where they're similar. Both are completely faceless. They track a lot of the same health metrics: heart rate, HRV, skin temperature, respirations, and sleep. And they both also offer some form of tracking battery. Garmin's Body Battery and Whoop's recovery percentage. Where do they differ? Who takes lead when it comes to tracking activities? Whoop has a buttonless feature, whereas Garmin, you need to click a button to activate. Whoop's battery life lasts 14 days, whereas Garmin lasts 10. Whoop has advanced health tracking to be able to look at your age, your actual age, and their advanced models, ECG and blood pressure. Garmin hasn't. Whoop also takes the lead when it comes to partner integration by partnering with companies like HealthEx to be able to pull in all your actual health data and look at your complete picture. Where does Garmin win? For one, it's cheaper. At $200 bucks one-time cost plus a $7 Garmin Connect+ monthly fee. It's infinitely cheaper than Whoop's $300 plus yearly subscription. The Garmin Circa is lighter, coming in at 21 grams versus Whoop's 26.5 grams. And finally, Garmin's water resistant up to 50 meters versus Whoop's 10 meters. So, I guess who actually wins depends on your use case. If you're deep into health statistics and want all those advanced analytics, and you're okay paying a couple hundred bucks a year, then probably go with Whoop. If you're just looking for a normal, faceless tracker, then Garmin's probably your best bet and you can save a couple bucks. I put together a complete guide on Garmin Connect+ so you can get the most out of it when you use it. Comment "BAND" down below and I'll send it to you.
