One of the most common questions I see is: “Who’s my head Orisha?” It’s completely okay to feel called to certain Orishas. You may resonate with their stories, symbols, energy, dreams, life experiences, or even other spiritual systems that encourage reflection. Those connections can be meaningful they often inspire us to learn. But being drawn to an Orisha isn’t the same as confirming your head Orisha. In many Ifá and Orisha traditions, that guidance is sought through divination with a qualified priest or priestess. Divination is a sacred conversation with the Divine not a personality quiz, a random DM, or someone promising instant answers for a fee. Unfortunately, people who are new to this path are sometimes targeted by scammers because they’re eager to learn. Be cautious of anyone who: • Claims they already know your head Orisha without a proper process. • Messages you first offering “special” readings. • Uses fear or urgency to pressure you into paying. • Promises guaranteed spiritual results. At the same time, not everyone online is a scammer. There are knowledgeable priests, priestesses, and practitioners who use the internet to teach and share their traditions.
