Replying to @Sinfulnun I do believe Jesus existed. Ish. 😂 But I wholeheartedly believe in the spiritual traditions my ancestors practiced long before the transatlantic slave trade began in the 1400s. Those traditions were part of their lives for generations before Europeans arrived in many parts of West Africa. That’s literally part of my ancestry, my history, and my DNA. And before someone says, “Well, that didn’t work for them…” They were living their lives. They were farming, raising families, building kingdoms, creating art, trading, and practicing their spirituality. Then people with power invaded, enslaved, and colonized them because they could—not because their beliefs somehow “failed.” Everyone deserves the freedom to believe what speaks to their spirit. If Christianity works for you, beautiful. If Ifá, Orisha, your ancestors, or another path brings you peace, that’s your right too. Religious freedom means exactly that: the freedom to choose what aligns with your soul. Asé. 🖤✨
