TO EXPAND ON WHAT I MEAN before anyone is confused, my point is that a lot of people don't acknowledge anime characters, for example, as asian people, especially when the content has a popular English dub. Ive seen several people who are against "blackwashing" (blackwashing is not real💀) refer to asian characters as being white. I always see people asking why black people get backlash for cosplaying asian characters and not white people AND ITS BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T VIEW THOSE CHARACTERS AS ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHITE PEOPLE AS WELL (regular antiblackness is ofc a cause too) That person who removed Monika's japanese identity and make Yuri darkskinned which was the only thing people cared about is also proof that people will accept asian characters as white before black. #art #hottake #anime #opinion #fyp
