In 1952... Pan Am Flight 526A, the Clipper Endeavor, departed San Juan, Puerto Rico, bound for New York. Just minutes after takeoff... The aircraft suffered engine failures and was forced to ditch in the Atlantic Ocean. The plane sank within minutes. Although some people survived, 52 lives were lost, making it one of Pan Am's deadliest accidents. More than 70 years later... A search team working with the Discovery Channel located the wreckage on the ocean floor. High-definition images revealed the aircraft's iconic Pan American logo and the name "Clipper Endeavor" still visible after decades underwater. The discovery helped bring renewed attention to the victims and their families, with calls for a permanent memorial to honor those who lost their lives.
