If your goal of fashion is to impress women, you have to dress boring. If you look at the advice from many women content creators who look to give fashion advice for men on how to dress better, how to improve their style, roughly 90% of them, I'd estimate, always recommend very basic, boring outfits. And I think this is for a couple reasons. For one thing, it's more palatable. There's this thing called the law of diminishing returns where you can kind of think about it like muscles when it comes to attraction with women, right? There's a lot of studies that show that up to a certain point, more muscles make you more attractive to women. And then if you get too muscular past that, then you start to become less attractive to women. And obviously, these are blanket statements and don't apply to everybody, but you know, just like on average. It's the same thing with style. There's a point where you can go to with style that's going to be kind of like this basic, put-together, like, I just look nice, I wear things that fit me well, I've put effort into making myself look good. But then once you get past that, and you start getting into, like, I'm expressing myself, I'm getting a little more creative, then it appears like not as many people like that. And the reason for that is because as you become more expressive, your style becomes more polarizing. And there's more things for people to look at and say, I don't like that. Whereas if you dress in like, any of these outfits that so many of these content creators recommend, it's like, what is there to dislike? This is like, basic pants and a button-up shirt. There's no texture, there's no character, there's no color. There's nothing you can look at and be like, oh my gosh, I love this so much. But there's also nothing to dislike. It's kind of like shooting with a shotgun rather than with a sniper rifle. When you dress in like this basic, recommended way that so many women recommend, even women who aren't doing fashion, it's kind of like the shotgun approach. You're just trying to hit a broad range of people, but you're not really hitting anyone specifically. Whereas if you dress in like, a more specific way, like I'm wearing these red shoes and red socks, and this is even really that crazy. This is a pretty basic, boring outfit. But even then, that's something that's polarizing. There's somebody who could say, oh, I don't like that. You're wearing two shades of red together. Right? That's something there for somebody to look at and say, I don't like that. Whereas if I was wearing a black pair of shoes and white socks, like, what's not to like about that? What's not to like about, like, lame shorts? Or if I wore something that wasn't vintage and had stuff on it. What could you possibly not like? And again, I advocate for dressing to express yourself, to dress however you want, dress creatively, but this is just a little advice if your goal of fashion is to impress women, you're more likely better off following the advice of many of these women and just dressing pretty boring.
