This is one of the saddest ways of finding out that you lost your football scholarship. So this dude up here, he had buried his mother, RIP to his mom, but then after he buried his mom, he found out that he lost his scholarship after he went home to grieve his mom's death. Kentucky, says he returned home after the sudden death of his mother, believing he had permission to remain with his family until June after receiving a summer workout plan. Instead, he had failed to report to him and had canceled his scholarship. Because of that, Vaka says he also lost the ability to transfer and use his final season of NCAA eligibility after his request for relief was denied. Western Kentucky processed the situation as a "failure to report." The NCAA later denied Vaka's request for legislative relief, either the university nor the NCAA has publicly commented on the specifics of his case. It says that he returned home after the sudden death of his mother and he believed that he had permission to remain with his family until June after receiving a summer workout plan. But it turns out the university, they said he didn't report this, they kicked him off the team and they canceled his scholarship. Not only that, he also lost the ability to transfer to a different university, I guess to get another scholarship. I think the university kind of went a little bit too harsh with this. Like I understand that he reported this, but it's like he just lost his mom, the woman that brought him into this world. They could have at least sympathize with this dude for a little bit, at least given this guy some type of leeway. Like he went home to be with his family because he just lost somebody that was really close to him. They shouldn't have took this man's scholarship away because he forgot to report this. At that moment, he's not thinking about reporting, he's thinking about spending time with his family. Hopefully the university can reconsider giving this dude back his scholarship because they didn't have to do him like that. He didn't deserve that at all. To find out that your mom had passed away and then you come back thinking that you're gonna continue football, you find out that your scholarship has been stripped away from you because you forgot to report the fact that you went home to grieve his mom.
