5 things that I would not buy for my classroom as a first year teacher. First up is this pencil dispenser. Don't get me wrong, they look cute. I don't have this one specifically, but I bought one last year, literally it was in one of my classroom hauls and I was so excited for it. First of all, it gets real beat up looking real quick. Second of all, the kids usually end up just picking up the lid and taking stuff out because the pencils get stuck anyway. Number two is these electric crayon sharpeners. Um, first of all, my kids tried to use them for pencils and they didn't work. Second of all, they didn't work for crayons either. They kind of just sat in my classroom. They didn't really do much. Number three is a flip calendar. I spent so much time laminating and cutting out each of those pieces. Just for me to like not do it, ever. My kids were always like, the date's wrong and I don't care enough to flip it. So it was more of a hassle than anything. Number four might be kind of controversial, but I did not love the voice level buttons. Not saying the voice levels were not great for my classroom, the signs are great. But the little buttons, the batteries die, you got to change them, they fall off, they break. It's just again, a hassle and not worth the money. And last but not least, number five, pillows. Especially I have these smiley face pillows. Not these exact ones, but I have smiley face pillows. And guess where my smiley face pillow always is? The floor. I never actually use it. It's on the floor, it's getting dirty. I really don't need it. I've got a comfy desk chair. I really don't need the pillows. So those are five things I would not buy for my classroom.
