An autonomous drone just chased down in midair and killed it. No net, no spray. It's Tourneol, a 40 gram micro-drone from French startup Y Combinator. Frankly, that moth was just its practice. Its real target is the mosquito, the animal that kills the most humans on Earth, around 700,000 people every year. The trick is sonar. The drone fires ultrasonic pulses and listens with tiny microphones. Every wingbeat leaves a fingerprint, so it can tell a mosquito from a bee. No chemicals. Here's the wild part: the drone is the weapon. It locks on and ram straight into its target. Alex Toussaint, co-founder Alex calls it a big step toward wiping out mosquitoes.
