Now, when I mentioned Federal agencies awarding millions of dollars in contracts to independent consultants, I wanted to be clear that I'm not talking about jobs. That's why I came in for a part two here. I'm talking about government agencies putting out requests for proposals, and they're basically saying to the public, we need someone to solve this problem that that we have. And they do this every single day. Now, social workers are some of the most qualified people out there to respond to these requests, and clearly, most of us are not even aware that these contracts are out there. It's not that we don't have the skills to apply for them, it's clearly that we just have never been told that these opportunities exist. So here are just four of the federal agencies that are actively contracting with independent consultants in social services, behavioral health, and human services. Now, the first one is the VA. So for the VA, we're talking about consultants developing mental health program consulting, suicide prevention protocol development, veterans family support services. Now, if you're a military or VA social worker, this one speaks directly to you. Next we have the Department of Health and Human Services. Now they offer contracts for things like community health program evaluation, behavioral health consulting, population needs assessments, hospital social workers, and public health social workers. This would be your lane. Number three, the Department of Education. So, they offer contracts for things like school mental health counseling, trauma informed care implementation, special education program development and evaluation. Now, school social workers, that one's for you. And then the last one, the Administration for Children and Families. They offer contracts for child welfare program design and evaluation, family support consulting, early intervention program development and more. Now, that one would be specifically for child welfare and family services social workers. It's built exactly for your expertise. And if you're already working in any one of those fields, just imagine what you could create. Now contract values range usually from anywhere from $25,000 to over $100,000 depending on the scope and the duration of the contract. And you don't need a large firm behind you to pursue these opportunities. Now, I've applied for a few myself and I've made it pretty far in the process. All you need is a registered business, a clear offer, and the expertise that you already have. So, the contracts are out there, you just have to know where to look and be ready to apply.
