Three ways to throw ladders effectively and efficiently. Let's get after it. The first way is going to be the suitcase carry. This is very simple and effective and it gets the ladder in place fast. The next is my personal favorite, the low shoulder carry. The low shoulder carry really sets you up to carry tools and move with purpose. And the last one is high shoulder carry. Be careful with this one guys, you're gonna have a lot of emphasis on the core and you're carrying a 70 pound ladder. Now, let me show you what it looks like with tools being effective and efficient, okay? Yes, I'm putting reps in and practice. And with that, I've got comfortable with using this method. Now go to the rig, practice these methods and pick one that works for you.

There isn’t one “perfect” way to carry a ladder. The best ladder carry is the one that allows you to move it safely, efficiently, and confidently based on your height, strength, and the situation. In this video, I break down 3 different ladder carries that every firefighter should know. Each has its advantages, and every firefighter should have more than one option in their toolbox. But here’s the truth… Watching a video won’t make you better. The only way to master these techniques is to get your hands on a ladder and practice them over and over again until they become automatic. Because when it’s time to throw a ladder on the fireground, that’s not the moment to figure out your technique. 👇 What’s your go-to ladder carry, and why? Let’s hear it in the comments.
