As always, My takes and tags: Cocoyster Bananitas @SALUM parfums Don’t let the oyster note scare you, this is a summer tropical bomb of a fragrance. Lots of banana, lots of coconut and something that does smell a bit like childhood and fruity bubble gum. On my skin, oyster = a salty balance… like the rim of a good margarita. Yum. Salted Caramel @Scent Split @THEODOROS KALOTINIS PERFUMER If you’ve been sleeping on Theodoros Kalotinis,you’re missing out on some of the most photorealistic affordable scents in niche perfumery. This smells exactly like what it’s promising. Oooey gooey deliciously decadent Salted caramel. TK mic drop Nectarium Santa Maria Novella I am a huge SMN fan. The history alone is worth a deep dive into this house. However, this newest release did not do it for me. Looking at the notes, it shoulda hit, but there was something off putting I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Queue Chris, who speaks the truth and it all snaps in place. Pee Velvet Violet @driesvannoten Not a plum to be found, but the mix of violet, sesame and vetiver combines and really does smell like umeshu…. at least at first. Give this one 20 minutes and it’s a sultry tonka and purple floral masterpiece. Note: This one is going to need cold weather to really shine. She doesn’t stick around in the heat, but hey, same girl, same. Hay Zhasmina! @Chopova Lowena First and foremost THE PACKAGING. Can we please get a round of applause? Not that I expected any less from CL. The scent is such an unexpected and interesting floral. And I know what you’re thinking, licorice Bhleck. But its actually working here, lending a minty spicy oddity around a classic jasmine palette. It’s giving “I’m a super cool alt rocker being forced to wear a dress to my also forced piano recital.” The imagery this conjures when I wear it makes me smile.
