Hidden mold can be easier to find than you think sometimes. Always look for ceiling damage like this. People don’t often remove water damage but paint and spackle over it. Projecting the flashlight at a 90 degree angle can often uncover damage like this. People, when there's leaks, they don't replace the ceilings. They spackle it, they repaint it. I'm gonna show you the mold back of those ceilings. This ceiling was constructed with gypsum board and plaster. Previous roof leaks caused water damage on the back, but this was never replaced. The double layers make this a perfect breeding ground for mold.
