Unpopular teacher opinion but really it's just what I've noticed in schools

I have an unpopular teacher opinion that I think is going to cop some heat. Those clip charts. Like these ones, right? Where the kids move up and down. Every post that you see will say public embarrassment, shaming, should not do it in your classroom. In context, I don't I don't do it in my classroom either. But I used to. I've been teaching since 2015. This is my classroom. See this chart? And the main reason was I just finished uni, you know, I just thought this is the best system because it was used when I was a kid. But that's the point, like when I got moved down as a kid on those charts because I was chatty, it motivated me to fix that behavior. Like I didn't feel embarrassed or shamed. And honestly, the same as when I taught year three, you know, 11 years ago, when the kids got moved down, I actually feel like it made more of an effect on their behavior because they would not repeat it. They'd know that there's a consequence that follows their action. And it didn't damage the relationship. Like this is a message I got off a student I taught back in 2016. Hey Mr Curmi!!! (from mars) from your 2016 class, me and my mum still treasure you to this day, I had just moved to your class from Adelaide, moving states was so hard, but genuinely having you as my teacher still means the world to me, thank you for letting me have a safe space amidst the chaos of my changing eight year old life haha, very grateful for you. Like I got kids that want to be professional athletes, right? You know what's public? A ladder when they last, and their team has won a game. It says zero and 15. I know there's research and stuff, but some kids don't care. What do you think?
