I thought it was normal that you invite people and then you're the one that pays for everyone your friends bring you presents and you pay for the food but apparently this is super controversial some people think that you should split the price of the food evenly between guests but don't have the birthday girl pay which I understand where it gets messy is if one person only orders fries and other people order a steak they end up paying for a lot more of the food than they even ate like to me when I invite my school friends work friends gymnastic friends and they all come and they're having to interact with people they don't know they're doing me a favour so I should pay I recently went to a birthday dinner where it was 100 dollar set menu and we were expected to pay which I didn't know about and it was at a seafood restaurant and I don't really eat seafood so I barely even touch the food luckily I had $100 in my bank account but not everyone has that especially after buying the birthday girl an expensive gift cause it was her 21st I'm curious to know what is the norm in your culture or country
