Why it worked

The creator uses a provocative hypothetical scenario (banning tomato seeds) to draw viewers in and then connects it to a real-world issue (hemp seed ban) to create a sense of urgency and shared concern. This emotional hook, combined with the relatable topic of gardening and the creator's personal connection to it, likely resonated with the audience.

Summary

The creator discusses the ban on hemp seeds, drawing a parallel to the potential outrage if tomato seeds were banned. She highlights the benefits of growing one's own tomatoes, such as control over pesticides and variety, and encourages viewers to check out her seed company, SEEDNEST, for their seed needs.

Structure

1Introduction of the hypothetical tomato seed ban
2Explanation of the benefits of growing homegrown tomatoes
3Comparison to the current hemp seed ban

THIS IS NOT ABOUT TOMATOES! This is entirely about the hemp ban and how it includes seeds, even though so many Americans can legally grow in their state. The outrage you might feel about not having access to seeds and not being able to grow what you want is exactly what we feel about this plant. #gardening #gardeningtips #seedstarting #diygarden

Transcript

What would you do if I told you that they're banning tomato seeds starting November 12th? Not because the tomato seeds themselves are dangerous or give you any sort of effect. It's the fact that those seeds when cared for under the right conditions and harvested at the right time could develop into plants, into tomatoes that you can harvest and enjoy yourself. Let's not forget that over 24 states allow adults to grow tomatoes at home for personal use. So it's actually far more common for adults to be growing a few tomato plants in their garden or in their grow tent. Even though I can go to the store and buy tomatoes or something different about homegrown tomatoes. One, I just enjoy gardening. I like being outside and having variety in my garden and in my harvest and caring for tomato plants is one of my favorite parts about it. I also can know what exactly goes into my tomatoes. So I know there's no pesticides and that it was harvested at the right time. I also grow tomatoes at home because I can choose what kind of tomatoes I want. I don't have to just get whatever tomatoes that they might have on sale or available to me. I can find heirloom varieties and really special ones that align with my body and my health. And even though growing these plants is still legal in 24 states, it's going to be a lot harder to get your hands on seeds come November unless something changes with this ban. So if you are at all concerned about your access to tomato seeds in the future, check out the info at the top of my page on the founder of a seed company and we have tomato seeds.
