UPDATE: The Maruleng Local Municipality mayor, Tsheko Musolwa together with the Department of Home Affairs, the South African Police Service (SAPS), traffic department and other law enforcement agencies had an operation atfarms in and around Hoedspruit to check undocumented immigrants.

I am currently at a farm in Woodspring. This is where the Maruleng mayor is taking Musolwa together with SAPS department of labor and also health inspectors are currently here. They are conducting this operation at farms in and around Woodspring to ensure that the people who are employed at farms are documented. So, they are checking the immigration status and employment documentation of workers as part of a joint compliance operation. The inspection follows concerns over the alleged employment of undocumented immigrants. Most of them that are working at farms in South Africa have documented. They are Zimbabwean and also South African. If you do remember since the June 30th a call against undocumented migrants who are in South Africa, it has prompted many government stakeholders as well as the municipality to do an operation checking that these people all have work permits. Most of them that are working at this farm are said to be Zimbabwean and also South African. They are currently checking for documents. It's a news report from SABC News.
