In 1983... Rally legend Ari Vatanen was competing in the Manx International Rally, driving an Opel Manta 400 on narrow, fog-covered roads. At high speed... The car clipped the edge of a bridge. The impact caused a tire failure, sending the car into a violent slide. For a split second... It looked like a devastating crash was unavoidable. His co-driver paused the pace notes and uttered the now-famous words: "Dear God..." But with extraordinary skill and lightning-fast reflexes... Vatanen regained control and continued the stage. He and his co-driver went on to finish second overall, and the onboard footage remains one of the most remarkable recoveries ever captured in rally racing.
