little things you don't want to forget to do when starting law school. I'm Madison, a rising 2L at UGA. And here are some basic things that I think people don't think about doing when they start law school and maybe aren't in the back of their mind because they're so focused on like, how do I take notes and how do I pay attention in class, things like that. So I'm just gonna give you some things that I think that you should do going into law school that just help you appear more professional. So starting strong, you need an email signature. When you're emailing professors, when you're emailing career people, when you're emailing, setting up interview availability later in the semester, you can copy and paste someone else's email signature that you like from your school. You can create your own, but you just need to have one. It kind of gives a professional vibe when you send and reply to emails and whatnot. And you have an email signature compared to like, thanks, or sent without Outlook iOS. That's just not professional. And I think that's definitely something you should do. Another thing that I think you should do is take a professional headshot. Sometimes the school offers them, and if your school doesn't offer them, make it with AI. Or like if you get one done at your school and you don't like it, like when I got mine done at my school, I just took a photo of myself from another setting. I put it into chat and I said, put a suit on me, this color top, this color suit, and it made it. And boom, you can update your email with that, update anything that professors, firms or people of importance would see a profile picture. And I think that's something that you should take the time to do at your school, you're gonna need an updated cover letter and an updated resume. So maybe wait to do that, but the resume, your school will probably have templates that they'll give to you or you can Google like Harvard Law resume template and you can update the resume with law school appropriate information. So have that headshot as your profile photo. Have everything updated. So when people look at it, they look professional. I have had several employers, like recruiting people from firms I'm interviewing with right now, look at my profile and I get notifications that they look at my profile. So it definitely is important. The last thing that I think you should have is an updated LinkedIn profile. I don't post on LinkedIn. I know a lot of people do. I just never have, but have an updated profile, right? Have all of the accurate information in there, have your LinkedIn profile like your thing on there as well. And I would do all of those things, or within the first few weeks of law school, just to have everything looking professional and ready in your back pocket. So you should ever need it. The last thing that I think you should have is an updated LinkedIn profile. I don't post on LinkedIn. I know a lot of people do. I just never have, but have an updated profile, right? Have all of the accurate information in there, have your LinkedIn profile like your thing on there as well.
