Ever feel your chest tighten the second you see all the stuff you desperately want to “deal with”? That’s not you being dramatic. Your nervous system reads the mess as a threat, so your body freezes and you can’t start. My dad has this thing he says about stress. He just turned 86.❤️ Gratitude and stress can’t both exist in your brain at the same time. Lean into one and the other loosens its grip. (Watch him explain it, he’s better at it than me) So when the clutter has you stuck, try this before you touch a thing. Name one thing you’re grateful for. It sounds too small to matter. But it pulls your brain out of panic mode just enough to let you move. Then open one drawer. That’s it. You were never lazy. Your brain was stuck in the wrong gear, waiting for something to shift it. #clutterstress #mentalload #declutteredlife #nervoussystem
