Distal 1/3 Tibia/Fibula Closed Fracture

255 year old patient presented with the right closed tibia/fibula fracture. Pre-operative optimization was completed and all investigations were reviewed. Anesthesia fitness was obtained and the procedure was explained in detail. Informed written consent was taken from the patient and attendants for interlocking nail of the tibia. Under aseptic precautions, closed reduction and internal fixation with interlocking intramedullary nail was done under C-arm guidance. Appropriate nail size was selected and proximal plus distal locking was performed with satisfactory alignment. The intra-operative course was uneventful with minimal blood loss. The patient was shifted to the recovery room in stable condition and monitored. He recovered well with stable vitals, pain controlled, and distal neurovascular status intact. Immediate post-op X-ray showed acceptable reduction and implant position. IV antibiotics, analgesics, and DVT prophylaxis were started as per protocol. Post-operative counseling was given regarding limb elevation, non-weight bearing, wound care, and follow-up, and attendants were counseled accordingly. #tibiafracture #interlockingnail #orthopedicsurgeon #fcps #orthopedicsurgery
