They dug it up it's so cold the up and up, trapping bits of history inside layers you can count like tree rings. each layer is packed with bubbles holding gases from that atmosphere. Every layer is a time capsule. Once a core comes up, researchers carefully slice it, then crush or vacuum to prevent contamination. That releases the ancient gas bubbles so they can analyze them, built this chart, showing how CO2 in our atmosphere has changed over time. And then in 2025 that goes even further back, 1.2 million years.
