Here's exactly how I'll cover all healthcare and retirement for about $400/month. I'm Tyler. I'm a former financial advisor and portfolio manager. Now I make financial content for free so you don't have to pay for it. Number one, get my red, white, and blue Medicare card. Part A is free, Part B is $202.90/mo in 2026 and will cover 80%. So add Plan G for another $150/month to cover the remaining 20%. Add Part D for prescriptions 0-30 total $350-$400/month. Number two, unless I'm a high earner, if I make over $109,000 single or $218,000 married filing joint in 2024, I'd pay IRMAA. In other words, a wealth tax. And Part B now jumps from $284-$689 a month. Ouch. No. 3. So I'm maxing out my HSA Now at 42 years old. $8,750 for families, $4,400 for singles as of 2026. Contributions are tax deductible, growth is tax free, and in retirement I can withdraw it tax free to pay for the premiums on Part B and D. So if you're wealthy, you can either complain about how expensive Medicare is, or you can use your extra money now to pre fund it in the most tax advantaged way possible.
