Costco haul
Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
Raising a high school athlete. Aim for the week. Let me show you my weekly Costco haul. So in our household, we're all about trying to put on weight. We're trying to gain muscle while also trying to stay lean at the same time. We both have our own different goals, so it's important that I get a mix of everything, uh, to satisfy his dietary needs and then also myself. So starting off, my son eats eggs. He eats a lot of eggs. Great source of protein. I actually am allergic to eggs, so I get egg whites myself. But we always keep these on deck. Something super easy for him to eat in the morning. We always keep Greek yogurt on deck. Um, again, another source of protein, about 15 grams. Uh, and it's super easy for my son to be able to take in the morning. Early in the morning before workouts. And I'll usually put these in my smoothie as well, so perfect there. We do have cheap meals in this house, and I'm a big sucker for pizza. I love Detroit style pizza. And at Costco, they have Motor City pizza. Um, I will always keep a couple of these on deck in case I'm getting lazy and I don't really feel like cooking. And at the same time, we just want something super easy. And so this is always in my fridge, and it's just my cheat meal. Can't get enough of it. I will always snag on a Sunday, uh, the rotisserie chicken as well. Uh, for me, it's perfect just to be able to snack on if I don't wanna make food right when I get home on a Sunday. I know what you guys. I know you guys know what I'm talking about. So always grab this. Something to eat on for the first couple days. Make sandwiches. What? Not perfect for that. Kimchi. I know what y'all thinking. Not everybody loves the flavor. I think it's an acquired taste over time, but I love it. I love putting it on my rice. I like mixing with beans. Um, so I always keep this in the fridge. Just adds another flavor. I like to make fried rice as well, so it's something that's really great to do that we, again, are trying to make sure that we stay healthy. And so we'll always keep a bag of spinach in the, uh, in the fridge. Superfood. Something that everybody should be eating. I'll either sauté this or I'll just eat it as a salad. So always keep this on deck. I love grabbing the bag because I usually can get through this in a week and it just keeps me in line. Again, we love to snack, but we try to do it healthy. So we always grab guacamole. I love the cups because I hate when guacamole gets brown. So this is perfect. I put it with beans when I'm making a Mexican bowl. Um, and I'll just always keep this, especially if my son wants to eat chips, he loves to grab this, so I think it's super easy. And I love them for breakfast. I've been trying to get away from pork, so I've actually got the chicken sausage here. Uh, one serving is 11 grams of protein. I do not like drinking water by itself. I need to add lemon to it. It gives it a little something, and at the same time, it's actually great for the drinking in the morning. It helps keep your gut and your stomach lean. So I'll always put this in my water, um, or just, you know, when you wanna add a little citrus to any of the food that you're making, I'll always keep these on deck. Again, I always like to switch up proteins week to week. This week I got salmon, so I'm gonna make salmon fillets tonight. Um, I love salmon. Being here in the northwest, uh, this is a staple for us. So definitely grab some salmon. Like I said, I love to mix and match my protein. So I actually got steak as well. Um, and what I'll usually do is I'll, I'll maybe make the first one, and then I'll freeze the rest. So I keep a bunch of different types of protein in my freezer. So I have ground Turkey, ground beef, I got some steak in there, some chicken. So just whatever I'm feeling at the moment I can just pull it out, defrost it, and it's always ready to go. But I'll always keep a couple different varieties on there. And so this week I got steak because I love red meat as well. One hack that I think everybody should do, especially if you're on a fitness journey, is grab these chicken bites. These are amazing. 24 grams of protein per pack, comes in eight. These are easy to snack on during the week. My son will eat them just as a snack, I'll eat them as snack before the gym. Um, I love these. I think everybody should try to grab these, especially if you're just trying to figure out how I can get my protein in. Super easy. Um, so always try to snag one of these and keep these in the fridge at all times. I always love bananas, keep them around. I think it's just a perfect snack overall. The last thing I got actually was these chicken burritos. Uh, there's 37 grams of protein. I've never had them, uh, but it comes in a pack of four. I thought it was great. Um, something that's gonna be super easy in the morning for my son. Um, so I want to try them out. Uh, I'll let you guys know how they are, but I thought this would be a perfect snack overall. That's my haul for the week. Again, raising a 16 year old athlete. Ain't for the week. And so we gotta make sure that we keep a loaded fridge, tons of protein, try to eat healthy at all times, so we can both hit our weight goals also at the same time. Uh, just to be able to have a variety in the fridge. If you have any recipe recommendations or you have any recommendations, things that I should check out, please let me know. Peace.
