This painting caused quite a stir when people found out it was priced at $180… but it just shows that people underestimate the value of branding and not everyone is your customer ✨ shock right? I’m not trying to create art that everyone can afford or that everyone will connect with! I’ve spent years building my brand, understanding my audience and creating work for the people who genuinely love what I do. A lot of people judged this painting from one short video… but you didn’t see the years behind it. the Bachelor of Design, the art courses throughout university, the 6 years building my creative business, the years developing my style, creating artwork, analysing content and marketing my art, turning paintings into patterns, and bringing my designs to life through products. This canvas might be a newer product for my business but creating art is not new to me!! (However I just want to say I am always learning and improving my skills but also at the same time creating an art style that is me) There is so much more that goes into pricing and selling original art than just the cost of a canvas and some paint. And in this day and age, artists have to be willing to step outside their comfort zone and show up online. Selling art isn’t just about posting a finished piece it’s about sharing the story, the intention, the process and connecting with the people who truly value it. #artist #painting #artistoftiktok
