According to psychology, one of the biggest predictors of failure isn't low IQ, but a habit that most of us have, and it's called living in reaction mode. Living in reactive mode means you're constantly controlled by your emotions and the circumstances of choosing how you want to show up. You wake up, you get out of bed, and spend the day reacting to other people's priorities. Someone does something to you, you immediately react, controlled by your own emotions and the life just simply happens to happen to you. And that right there is the lowest form of intelligence. Not because you're not smart, but because you don't even give yourself the chance to be smart. Think of anyone that wrecked their own life. Maybe an employer said something to them, they immediately sent a message or did something, or they're at a party, swings at them, and they decide to escalate it. But the thing is, they weren't low IQ, they just didn't take a moment to stop and really think of the consequences of getting into a fight, there's no one in the wrong, it's just self-defense. But the easiest fix for this is something psychologists actually call metacognition. Metacognition is the ability to think about your own thinking before you make a reaction. Step outside yourself and ask, why am I about to do that? The second day you can recognize patterns in your own behavior, those patterns start to lose power and you have more control of yourself. Almost like you're operating yourself outside of yourself because you can't control what life does to you, you can't control your circumstances, but the one thing which is you, you will have absolute power over. That's ambitious, big dreams, but not necessarily the foundation or the riches. This one skill could be everything you need to change your life around. You don't need to be perfect, you just need to be able to have some sort of metacognition when it actually matters. Follow for more content.
