You could’ve gotten in because of your essays. You could’ve gotten accepted in spite of them. Same for any other characteristic. So when you hear me, make a generalization, like “you need a 1500+ SAT to get into an Ivy” please resist the low IQ knee jerk impulse to comment “but I got in without an SAT score”. No one cares.
