I hate being a hijabi. I've been a hijabi for a month and I hate it. Strangers would come up to me, cashiers, waitresses, people would always tell me that I was so beautiful. And since putting on the hijab, everything's become quiet. I don't wanna see this girl get any hate whatsoever because what she described is what a lot of girls experience when they put the hijab on and realize that they don't and to miss that is completely 100% normal and fine because are we not told that is that for us and the fact that our nafs is one of our biggest trials in this dunya, it's meant to be hard. And of course we crave that because that's what we were used to. That's also what the west has accustomed us to wanting. As women, there is so much emphasis and value put on our appearance. That when we don't get that external validation, it really does take some time to adjust and it's one of the hardest things about wearing the hijab. I know a lot of people will be like, you're not meant to want attention, you're not meant to crave all that, do do do, but it's like, it's normal and it's one of biggest trials for a reason. The best way to word it is that everything goes quiet because it really does. But I actually think that that's also the beauty in it because you can focus on what really matters. Just like anything that releases a chemical reaction, it takes time to adjust. But once you get through the hardest part, it's honestly, wallah, it's so peaceful. And letting go of this meaningless validation in this world is a perfect example of choosing the deen over the dunya.
