“Build me an app, I’ll make you a cofounder.” We’ve normalized a culture of using young talent in Kenya. A young developer grinds for months building an app for “equity” — the person disappears once it’s done. A young marketer is told “just get us clients, we’ll sort you out” — sorts out nothing. Companies advertise internships requiring a degree, skills, and zero stipend — because “it’s exposure.” Talent isn’t the problem. The exploitation dressed up as opportunity is. If it’s real value, pay for it. If it’s a partnership, put it in writing. If it’s an internship, it’s still labor. #KenyanHustle #YouthInTech #TalentExploitation #StartupCulture #PayYourInterns
