Energy has always been around us. We just learned how to tame it. For most of human history, we depended on the energy nature gave us directly - sunlight, fire, wind, water and our own muscles. But eventually, we learned how to reach deeper. We dug into the Earth and found ancient energy stored in coal, oil and gas. We burned it, turned heat into motion and built an industrial civilization around it. Then we went even further. Instead of burning matter, we learned how to split the atom itself. A tiny amount of fuel could suddenly release an enormous amount of energy - enough to power entire cities. And today, we are learning to capture energy that constantly surrounds us: sunlight falling on our planet, wind moving through the atmosphere and water flowing across its surface.
