If you’re a 3rd-year MedTech student starting your research journey, these are 5 things I’d seriously recommend: 1. Choose the right people. You don’t have to leave your friends behind just make sure you’re working with people you can trust and rely on. 2. Think ahead. Plan your budget, materials, permits, timeline, and possible problems BEFORE they happen. Good planning can save you money, time, and a lot of stress. 3. Choose a topic you genuinely care about. If you’re interested in your topic, learning the material and defending your study becomes so much easier. 4. Consult the right people. Get as much feedback as you can from your adviser and subject experts. Don’t be afraid to revise your work. 5. KNOW YOUR OWN PAPER. Don’t just memorize your presentation. Read everything. Understand your methodology, results, limitations, and why you made every decision. When the panel starts asking questions, you want to be the person who knows your study best.
