The turkish get up is humbling.... especially as a person who is hypermobile...
whole video sped up x2
Week 1
This is why I'm learning it anyways...
Watch me progress over 4 weeks... (doing an exercise I've put off for years)
Week 1
Memorizing the sequence was difficult for me at first. I'm using the movement to practice stability, body awareness, and strength through transitions.
Week 2
The goal isn't to make it look impressive. The goal is to make every position feel controlled
Week 3
Yes, I started with no weight... because there's no point in loading a system that is still establishing stability
It is a complex movement.... and I am not the most coordinated person
Week 4
I'm learning Turkish get ups because they challenge me to create stiffness and control where I need it -not to chase end range.
This a true functional strength movement
The best thing about a Turkish get up is that it turns a basic life skill: getting yourself from the floor to standing.. into a deliberate practice of strength, balance, coordination, and confidence.
Would you try it?
