Americans probably wouldn't believe this, but China built the Tanzhin, a 400,000 ton ore carrier entirely on its own. And the world immediately called it a marvel of the seas when it debuted. It's 1,188 feet long, 213 feet wide, with a deck big enough to fit three football fields. And fully loaded it weighs in at nearly 500,000 tons. Massive enough to command respect wherever it sails. Its cargo capacity is insane. One full load equals 6,666 freight train cars, making it one of the biggest ships in the entire global shipping industry. At one point, the welding tech needed for these ultra thick steel plates was locked down by other countries. Nobody would share it, but Chinese engineers went all in and figured it out themselves, eventually breaking that monopoly completely.
