One of my favourite ways to come up with children’s gift ideas is to start with a book and build the gift around the story. 🤍 For this one, I used Commotion in the Ocean to create a little under-the-sea scene inside a blue cake box. The window makes it perfect for seeing all of the characters inside, while still keeping everything beautifully presented as a gift. What I used: • Blue cake box from Spotlight – $7.20 • Commotion in the Ocean book – $12 • IKEA octopus soft toy/night light – $30 • IKEA mini sea creatures, pack of 5 – $16 • Blue tissue paper • Blue gingham ribbon Total: approx. $65 AUD, plus the tissue and ribbon I already had on hand. I layered some blue tissue paper along the bottom, positioned the book at the back so you can still see it through the window, then added the octopus and tucked the little sea creatures around him. For less than $70, you’re gifting a book, a night light and six soft toys, all brought together in a way that makes the story come to life. #giftideas #gift #books
