Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold2 uses a compact Hideaway Hinge with a CAM mechanism that controls the folding motion, supports Flex Mode, and helps the phone stay firmly open at 180°. Inside the hinge are more than 60 tiny components, including extra CAM structures and springs added for the Fold2's larger size, while the design also had to survive at least 200,000 folds. To keep dust from entering through the unavoidable hinge gap, Samsung developed its Sweeper technology using fibers shorter than 1 mm after engineers tested 98 different ideas and took inspiration from vacuum cleaner brushes.
