so thankful we didn’t take any personal damage to property but that cannot be said for sooo many people around Valpo and in Lake & Porter County 😭 #nwi #stormupdate #fyp #valparaiso Okay, a little update for those of you who are unaware of what's happening in Northwest Indiana right now. We are a little over 24 hours with no power right now and around 15 hours no water. They did turn our water off here in this apartment complex. This storm was unprecedented. Over 300,000 people without power. Late County had 96% of its population without power, which is basically the entire population. My town was listed as 33,000 without power, which is basically the entire population. The storm is officially categorized as a duration which I can't even heard of, but they are comparing the damage to a category 2 hurricane in Indiana. We're not by the ocean. There was one gas station open yesterday. You literally had to wait in line for hours to get gas and then most of them ran out of gas. Thankfully, I had the brilliant idea last night around midnight to drive up to Michigan City to be able to get gas. They also had water and bread. So I was able to grab some. Driving around town today, I'm really thankful we did that because the gas stations that are open again today, lines are just wrapped. I mean, like everywhere has probably 50 plus cars in line. It's insane. I also grabbed the last portable charger at Meyer because Meyer is open. Thank God. I was able to also use the bathroom there. I was able to grab some Maxi overnight pads. I haven't used pads or tampons in like five years. I'm scared. I'm scared. My ereader is charging during the day. We have plenty of candles. So thankfully again, lucky that we took no damage from this. It's a little stressful, a little scary, kind of sad seeing the state of the town and the county over from us. It's absolutely insane. That's my update for you guys. Do you want another power outage writing blog? Let me know.
