It is that time again. It is time to do my daughter's wash day routine. This time she wanted something fancy for the first day of school. Just a reminder, I'm not looking for your advice. The purpose of this video is to give you ideas and let you in on how we care for her hair. I wanted to show you guys up close on the rubber bands because I got a lot of questions about lint. She does get that too. And also for those of you who asked, this is how I get the rubber bands out. I promise I would not still be using rubber bands if it was causing breakage, you guys, so just relax a little bit. But I did want to show you there is the gunk that built up under the rubber bands. Now typically when her twists are intact and they are not unraveling and she hasn't been swimming, I take the rubber bands out and leave the twists in. So that's what I'm doing here. It allows me to really keep her hair sectioned off, but I could get into her scalp. Which is very, very important when you have this much hair. Since it is the first day of school, she's wanting to do a little something different. So we're going to go through our normal routine of all of the twists. However, once we get to the front, we're going to try a little something different. This is a close up just to show you guys that the roots are in fact clean. For those of you who didn't believe me, like I don't know what I'm doing. I'm so sorry y'all, I have never in my life heard of it called that. I like to for the most part have them all lined up. I part according to the head shape. I have no grid or map that I follow. I let her pick the color of the yarn that she wanted and she wanted to go with yellow and green. Those are her favorite colors. So I just kind of laced it through and then braided it down and tied a little knot at the bottom and then cut it. And then for the connect, I kind of like, swirl it through, you can see, braided down, put a little knot at the bottom and cut that. And then we added some charms to jazz it up. This should last her about four weeks, but until then, I will see you in the next one.
