Reactive responses happen when someone’s words hook you emotionally, you respond quickly, challenge them and let the tension rise. Insecure responses come from giving their opinion too much weight, so you shrink, over-explain, justify yourself or try to make sure they haven’t misunderstood you. Being unbothered means creating a little space between what someone says and how you respond. Pause. Keep your tone calm and your body relaxed. You don’t need to defend yourself or convince them to see you differently. Sometimes “Maybe,” “You’re allowed to think that,” or simply moving the conversation on says far more. The less you need their approval, the harder you are to rattle. #communicationskills #communicationtips #unbothered
