Indonesia has faced significant deforestation challenges driven by agriculture expansion, including for aquaculture and unsustainable fishing. Mangroves in particular have taken the fall. Together with our local planting team, we've been restoring this vital ecosystem by planting a variety of native mangrove species. 🌱 Mangroves shield coastlines from erosion, storm surges and flooding by absorbing wave energy and stabilising sediment with their complex root systems. Mangroves are also highly efficient as capturing and storing carbon dioxide, helping to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. From mangrove crabs to butterfly fish to monitor lizards, they also provide a habitat for a wide range of both marine and land animals.
